Trade Assistant - Full Time | Port of Brisbane

TRADE ASSISTANT – FULL-TIME | Port of Brisbane | $30–$35/hr + super + overtime | Long-term, secure work | Start late October 2026

TMF Welding is a growing Brisbane welding and fabrication company servicing multiple long-term contracts across South East Queensland.

We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Trade Assistant to join our crew on our long-standing contract at a major container terminal at the Port of Brisbane.

This is steady, ongoing work with the same crew, on a site we've been working at for years.

You don't need to be trade qualified. We're looking for someone who turns up, works hard, wants to learn and looks after the people around them.

About the role

You'll work alongside our other Trade Assistants, boilermakers and welders, assisting with maintenance, repairs and modifications across the terminal.

Your day-to-day work will include:

- General trade assistant and labouring duties
- Assisting boilermakers and welders with maintenance, repair and modification work
- Handling tools, materials and equipment
- Preparing work areas and materials
- General site and workshop duties
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
- Working as part of a close-knit crew

This is a full-time, ongoing position with plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your skills.

What we're looking for:

- Valid driver's licence (essential)
- Reliable transport
- Mechanically minded and comfortable working with tools
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual and safety-focused
- Physically capable of performing general labouring and trade assistant duties
- Able to pass the requirements for a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

Previous trade, construction,



fabrication or labouring experience is welcomed but not essential.

MSIC & site requirements:

You do not need to already have an MSIC.

TMF will organise and pay for your MSIC and required site inductions, subject to you meeting the relevant eligibility and security requirements.

It's also handy if you already have:

- Construction White Card
- Forklift licence
- EWP ticket
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space

Don't have these? That's okay. We support training and development and can put the right person through additional tickets as they progress with the company.
