If you're an excellent industrial mechanical fitter, we can teach you boilers.
n
The role
n
This is a hands-on industrial field service and maintenance role, with a strong focus on annual boiler maintenance, plant shutdowns, mechanical overhaul and breakdown work.

- Industrial steam and hot-water boiler annual maintenance
n
- Planned shutdown maintenance and overhaul work
n
- Removal and refitting of industrial burners
n

n
- Pumps, valves, actuators and steam/water systems
n
- Bearings, seals, shafts, couplings and mechanical drives
n
- Flanged joints, gaskets and bolted connections
n
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs
n
- Preparation of boilers and pressure equipment for statutory inspection
n
- Reassembly and preparation of plant for return to service
n
- General industrial plant maintenance
n
- Workshop overhaul and preparation work
n
- Working alongside our electrical, mechanical plumbing & Type B Gasfitting Technicians
n
n
Who we're looking for
n
n
- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner or equivalent
n
- Ideally 5+ years post-trade industrial maintenance experience
n
- Robust hands-on mechanical ability
n
- Experience dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling industrial equipment
n
- Confident working with pumps, valves, bearings, seals, shafts, couplings and mechanical plant
n
- Good mechanical fault-finding skills
n
- Industrial shutdown and preventative maintenance experience
n
- Able to work independently once familiar with the equipment
n
- Good attention to detail and quality of workmanship
n
- Comfortable dealing directly with industrial customers
n
- Current Victorian driver's licence
n
- Willing to participate in reasonable overtime and planned weekend shutdown work
n
n
Boiler experience is highly regarded but not essential.
n
Experience with steam systems, pressure equipment, industrial burners, process plants, food and beverage manufacturing,
rotating equipment or industrial field service would also be highly regarded.
n
What we offer
n
n
- $50–$55 per hour, depending on experience and capability
n
- Company vehicle
n
- Paid overtime at applicable rates
n
- 38-hour working week
n
- Early finish every Friday
n
- Uniform, phone & laptop provided
n
- Specialist boiler training
n
- Ongoing technical development
n
- Varied industrial field-service work
n
- Established high-end industrial customer base
n
- Small, experienced technical team
n
- Stable, long-term full-time employment
n
n
Our normal working hours are:
n
Monday–Thursday: 7:00am–3:30pm
n Friday: 7:00am–1:00pm
n
Industrial shutdown work sometimes needs to be completed outside normal hours, including weekends. This is an established part of the position and overtime is paid accordingly.
n
Develop into a specialist field
n
We're not expecting the successful applicant to know everything about boilers on day one.
n
We're looking for someone who already has a strong mechanical foundation.
n
We'll provide the boiler-specific training and experience required to develop your knowledge of industrial boilers, steam systems, burners, pressure equipment and associated plant.
n
For the right person, this provides an opportunity to take established mechanical fitting skills and develop them into a specialist industrial boiler career.
n
About you
n
You'll suit Steamtech if you're someone who takes pride in mechanical work, enjoys solving problems, likes varied industrial environments and wants responsibility rather than needing to be closely supervised.
n
We're particularly interested in someone looking for a long-term position who wants to become an important part of a small specialist technical team.
n
If you're an experienced industrial Mechanical Fitter looking for something more varied than maintaining the same production equipment every day, we'd like to hear from you.
