Your role

Make a meaningful impact protecting the rights, safety and wellbeing of older people and adults withdisability. As a Helpline Consultant, you will be the first point of contact for reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Using a person-centred, trauma-informed and rights-based approach, you will work with older people, adults with disability, families, carers, services and agencies to understand risk, strengthen safety, and support timely, practical outcomes.

This is a practical frontline role that applies principles aligned with domestic and family violence, safeguarding, and crisis response settings. You will combine sound judgement and empathy to uphold the rights of older people and adults with disability experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation. You will assess safety and wellbeing, gather and analyse information in accordance with legislation, and connect people with supports that reflect their needs, wishes, culture and circumstances.

What you’ll do

You’ll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside a capable and compassionate team dedicated to upholding the rights of older people and adults withdisability.

- Respond to reports and enquiries by providing information, advice, and referrals.
- Identify, assess and respond to risks, including immediate safety concerns and emergencies.
- Coordinate early case responses with individuals, families,services and government agencies.
- Manage sensitive and complex concerns with empathy,professionalism and sound judgement.
- Maintain clear,accurate records that support risk assessment and early case coordination.
- Contribute to community engagement and capacity-building activities that strengthen the prevention of, and response to, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

You are confident in navigating complex situations and remain calm under pressure. You assess risk and make sound decisions in real time while documenting clearly and accurately. You thrive in fast-paced, team-driven environments.

- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to document information accurately in real time.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to identify practical ways to improve how work is delivered.
- Knowledge of services and support systems available to older people and/or adults withdisability.
- Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft applications while engaging with people by telephone.

- Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in relevant area.
