Registered Nurse – Clinical Management & Training

In Home Care Team @ Palm Cove

Casual Pay Range: $69.46 - $73.79 Weekday $104.19 to $110.69 Saturday

Our service-for-one at Palm Cove, is losing a valued RN. They have played an integral part in developing the nursing role on our team. They have established the foundations of competency-based training for our high-intensity support workers. They have supported our person through some chronic health challenges. Through their own research and specialist advice, they have trialled successful solutions.

They have been caring, committed and flexible. Living and working at the northern beaches, they have been able to provide some 2 hr drop-in shifts as needed, (eg. for client assessment or support worker training), in addition to working a small number of direct care shifts. They have enjoyed their role on our person-centred team and we will be sad to lose them.

We are looking forward to welcoming our next registered nurse for a clinical management/training role. We are seeking a registered nurse from the northern beaches for this varied position that offers work/life balance.

This role would suit an experienced nurse who enjoys developing the skills of others and supporting long term caregivers. Values that support in-home over institutional care would be an advantage. Your client's home is a calm workplace; his purpose-built 'zen space'.

We are seeking a good human for this role. A person who can commit to supporting their team, in a friendly,



slower paced environment. A detailed handover and orientation will be provided by our outgoing RN and key members of our care team.

- Current registration with AHPRA as an RN
n
- Confidence in your ability to provide clinical oversight for a medically vulnerable person
n
- Confidence to provide competency-based training for a high intensity support team, as per NDIS requirements.
n
- Capacity to provide clear, step-by-step written instructions to the non-medical care team when care needs change
n
- The ability to follow tasks through to completion, eg. taking responsibility for the completion and management of staff training records
n
- The ability to work collaboratively with the legal guardian, presenting options for discussion when time permits
n
- The ability to take decisive action in a health emergency
n
- Experience working as a community nurse would be highly valued
n

Key Responsibilities

n

We are seeking a Registered Nurse, to provide clinical oversight, training, mentoring and clinical administration to our team of 8 support workers in collaboration with the client's legal guardian and our 2 other nurses.

n

Clinical Administration

n

n
- Provide step-by-step written instructions to our support team when care needs change.
n
- Develop training resources,



organize pathology samples and new medications as required.
n
- Manage telehealth appointments and home visits as needed. Provide a written record of medical appointments for the team and legal guardian.
n
- Maintain accurate records of competency-based training delivered to individual team members.
n

Training and Supportive Supervision

n

Be a supportive mentor and leader. Provide training and guidance to our support workers on topics such as:

n

- Hand hygiene and infection control
n
- Giving and recording medication
n
- Taking and recording vital signs
n
- Pressure wound prevention
n
- Complex bowel care (training provided by our outgoing RN)
n
- Basic wound care
n
- Catheter care when required.
n

Liaise with Medical Practitioners & Key Family Members

n

Our man has a great GP, a private Rehab Consultant, and a full allied health team. A person-centred approach achieves the best health outcomes. There will be opportunities to consult with our man's parent/guardian regarding his health history. They will rely on you to present treatment options as discussed with his medical practitioners, and be a sounding board to assist them to make any significant health decisions.

Provide Person-Centred Care on Direct Dare Shifts

n

Hours

n

12 – 17 hours per week made up of the following hours to start:

n

n
- 8am to 10am Tuesdays and Saturdays (patient assessment and staff supervision)
n
- 1 – 7pm Wednesdays (direct care shift)
n
- 2 – 4 hrs per week for individual staff training and non-clinical work
n
- Participation in fortnightly meetings on Thursday afternoons eg. 2 – 4pm
n
