An established boutique Melbourne builder is looking to appoint Contract Administrator to join the team on a $28m high-end apartment development in Melbourne's inner suburbs.

This role will suit an experienced CA with a strong D&C; background who enjoys quality apartment projects but is looking to move away from the constant pressure and workload that can come with larger Tier 2 builders.

n

You'll be based on one project, working closely with the Project Manager and site team, with responsibility across procurement, cost management, subcontract administration and client/consultant relationships.

The Directors are big on workload and deliberately aim to have their people operating at around 80% capacity, allowing the team to properly manage their projects when things get busy.

The builder has an established track record in boutique multi-residential, with current and completed apartment projects ranging from approximately $9m to $35m. Their focus is predominantly owner-occupier developments where quality, detailing and finishes are critical.

The Builder

A privately owned Melbourne builder established in 2011, now employing 60+ staff and having delivered more than 200 projects across Victoria.

n

Despite that growth, they have maintained a small and intimate feel, with direct access to the Directors and a strong focus on quality rather than simply chasing volume.

Their residential work is centred around highly detailed, architecturally designed projects, with a genuine emphasis on the finished product.

n

They also run established systems, including Procore across project management and administration.

The Role

n

You'll work closely with the PM and Foreman across:

n

- Procurement & letting subcontract packages
n
- Cost reporting & forecasting
n
- Variations and contractual administration
n
- Client & architect liaison
n
- Subcontractor management
n
- Programming and project documentation
n
- Claims & invoices
n
- Supporting the project through delivery and handover
n

n

The position description places particular emphasis on project profitability, quality, timely handover and strong client relationships, rather than simply processing contracts.

About You

n

Ideally you will have:

n

n
- Proven Contract Administrator / Senior CA experience
n
- Robust D&C; experience
n
- Apartment or multi-residential experience highly regarded
n
- Experience delivering projects with a head contractor
n
- Strong commercial and procurement knowledge
n
- Ability to work directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors
n
- A preference for quality projects and a more measured working environment
n

This isn't about stepping backwards in project quality or responsibility.
