The Currajong School is recruiting for a permanent, full- time classroom teacher in an ongoing capacity, commencing term one 2027.

The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs and wellbeing supports to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning and wellbeing.

About you:

- Passionate and experienced in special education; especially students with social and emotional needs and supporting students.
- Current VIT
- Qualifications in special education an advantage, or an interest in exploring this
- Must complete a satisfactory Police Check

Workplace Tasks and Key Responsibilities

- Respect all students and foster the development of their self-esteem
- Preparation, planning,



delivery and assessment of high quality student learning programs to meet the diverse needs of all students
- Effectively use data to inform teaching approaches
- Attend and lead Student Support Group Meetings
- Collaborate with Allied Health and Teachers Assistants in the development of high quality student support documentation (ILP, SSG, BSP)
- Implementation of school initiatives and policies
- Collaborate with Allied Health and Teachers Assistants to provide effective student management including wellbeing and mental health
- Support the implementation of and adherence to school policy and procedures, including the commitment to the Child Protected Standards, at alltimes
- Provide direction to Teachers Assistants where needed
- Assist the leadership team and teaching staff in decision making around compliance with Child Safety, Mandatory Reporting and other legal requirements
- Other duties and projects as reasonably directed from time to time
- Attendance at off-site activities to support the safe and effective engagement of students as directed
- Implement Positive Behaviour Supports
- Engagement with parents/carers to ensure high level communication relating to student learning, mental health and wellbeing
- Communicate student learning and wellbeing outcomes to parents through regular reporting
- Create and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues and maintain a high level of professionalism in line with Currajong policies and procedures
- Maintain planning, assessment and student data records
