Leading Hand Boilermaker

$55/hr + OT | 90% Hands-On | Lead a Crew of Five

We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker to take ownership of day-to-day workshop builds while remaining heavily involved in fabrication and welding.

This is not a desk-based Workshop Manager role.

You’ll spend around 90% of your time on the tools, working alongside the team, with the balance focused on allocating builds, coordinating workflow and keeping production moving.

The Role

You’ll lead a small workshop team of approximately five people and take responsibility for how builds move through the floor.

Your day will include:

- Hands-on fabrication and welding
- Reading and interpreting detailed fabrication drawings
- Allocating work across the workshop team
- Delegating individual builds and priorities
- Keeping jobs moving against production deadlines
- Supporting tradespeople with technical issues
- Monitoring quality and workmanship
- Identifying issues before they impact production
- Working closely with management around workflow and priorities
- Maintaining strong workshop safety standards





About You

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, practical and comfortable taking the lead on the floor.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Fabricator
- Strong structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
- Confident drawing interpretation skills
- Robust welding and fabrication capability
- Leading Hand, Senior Boilermaker or supervisory experience
- Experience coordinating or directing a small team
- Good understanding of workshop workflow and build sequencing
- A hands-on leadership style

You do not need to be an experienced Workshop Manager.

This role could suit an existing Leading Hand or a Senior Boilermaker ready to step up without stepping away from the tools.
