Our client, a listed multi-national resources company, is looking to hire another senior lawyer for its Australian legal team.

Reporting to a highly-regarded Head of Legal, this role will be responsible for overseeing the legal, regulatory, and commercial side of our client’s business in Australia.

Key responsibilities

- Advising the CEO and Board on legal and regulatory matters relating to the company's Australian operations
- Taking the lead on complex negotiations with various partners, governmental authorities, and industry bodies
- Ensuring compliance with the company’s legal and regulatory obligations, including with respect to Australian environmental standards
- Identifying opportunities for the business and providing strategic commercial guidance to the business
- Improving internal processes in relation to contracting, procurement, and risk management to increase operational efficiency and mitigate risk
- Ensure that the company has appropriate WHS policies and procedures to protect our workforce
- Supporting the ESG team,



encompassing sustainability, decarbonisation, stakeholder engagement and diversity and inclusion

Qualifications and experience

- Law degree and admission to practice in an Australian jurisdiction with a current, unrestricted practicing certificate (or eligibility to apply for one immediately)
- Minimum of 7 years’ post-admission experience within the mining and resources sector gained in a leading law firm and/ or in-house legal team

- Leadership skills and the ability to manage and influence stakeholders
- Robust commercial and financial acumen
- Demonstrated track record in a commercial management role in the resources sector
