Primary Location VIC - Clayton Job Description Summary As busy as ever, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Crew Member to join our Energy-Gas team, performing a variety of field construction and maintenance work on gas mains and services. Based in Clayton, this role will report to the Operations & Maintenance manager and play a vital role across out broader utilities unit, where you will enjoy working for a stable, recognised and growing company.

About the Role n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Excavation and trenching using hand tools or machinery
n
- Pipe laying, jointing, wrapping, and installation of valves and fittings
n
- Assisting with under-pressure drilling, tapping, and live gas connections
n
- Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement
n
- Operating and maintaining tools, plant, and equipment in a safe and effective manner
n
- Following all safety procedures and use correct PPE at all times
n
- Carrying out work under direction according to plans, drawings, and job instructions
n
- Assisting with pressure testing and purging of mains and services
n
- Supporting site clean‑up and restoration, including lawns, footpaths, and roadways
n
- Completing documentation such as time sheets, job reports, and basic field notes
n
- Supporting gas meter refits and relight customer appliances as required
n
- Participating in toolbox talks, site inductions, and team briefings
n
- Responding to after‑hours callouts and participate in on‑call rosters if required
n
- Maintaining a professional attitude and support positive relationships with customers,



contractors & the public
n
- Ensuring proper care, use and security of company tools, equipment and vehicles
n

About You nn
- Previous experience operating mechanical equipment within a gas industry
n
- Completion of a Mains and Services Certificate 3 or equivalent (desirable)
n
- Ability to plan and organise work to ensure quality meets set standards
n
- Robust liaison & communication skills
n
- Excellent understanding and care to maintain a safe working environment
n
- Ability to read & interpret drawings
n
- Willingness to participate in after‑hours duty rosters and emergency call‑outs
n
