The opportunity

n

As the Underground Safety Specialist, you will play a key technical role in supporting the onsite restart and ramp-up of the underground mine at the Mount Marion Operation, helping support the project through to steady-state production.

n

This position will commence on an 4D3X roster, flying from Perth.

n

Reporting to the Manager Safety, this role will work closely with operations, contractors and corporate technical teams to develop and implement a safe system of work that is aligned with operational readiness.

n

This is an exciting opportunity for a Safety Specialist to share their underground knowledge in what is the first underground project for MinRes.

n

Key responsibilities

n

- Provide specialist underground safety leadership and technical guidance throughout the restart and ramp-up phases.
n




- Support the development and implementation of safety management systems aligned with operational readiness requirements.
n
- Work collaboratively with operations, project teams, contractors, and corporate stakeholders to identify and manage risk.
n
- Facilitate critical risk management processes, inspections, audits, and verification activities.
n
- Monitor compliance with legislative and company requirements relating to underground mining operations.
n
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
- Contribute to the development of safe work procedures, training programs, and operational standards.
n
- Maintain project risk registers, statutory appointments, safety registers and compliance requirements in line with WA mining legislation and site standards.
n
- Support underground emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
n

What Will You Bring

n

n
- Occupational Health and Safety (Diploma minimum requirement).
n
- Cert 3 Mines Rescue
n
- Current C Class Drivers Licence.
n
- 5 years + in underground mining
n
- Incident Investigation and Reporting (ICAM or Taproot).
n
- Experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems.
n
- Experience in the practical application of safety in underground mining
n
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
n
- Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills.
n
- Ability to think creatively and laterally.
n

Mt Marion is located 40km south west of Kalgoorlie in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. MinRes manages all mining activities at Mt Marion, including a spodumene concentrate processing plant with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tonnes (SC6 equivalent).
