We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join their team in a hands-on position supporting the organisation's financial operations.

About the Role
n
Reporting to senior leadership, the Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the organisation's day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial processes.
n
The successful candidate will work across payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting and financial administration.
n
This role will suit someone who is highly organised, proactive and commercially minded, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Process payroll, including timesheet reconciliation, payslips and staff payments.
n
- Enter and reconcile income and expenses using Xero.
n
- Prepare and issue invoices and follow up outstanding accounts.
n
- Manage debtors and overdue invoice collections professionally.
n
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.
n
- Complete end-of-month reconciliations.
n
- Manage statutory obligations including superannuation, payroll tax, WorkCover and Portable Long Service Leave.
n
- Assist with BAS, IAS, PAYG and ASIC compliance requirements.
n
- Prepare monthly financial reports for senior leadership.
n
- Respond to payroll and invoice queries and ensure timely resolution.
n
- Support external accountants and auditors with audit requirements.
n
- Maintain accurate and auditable financial records.
n
- Support relevant NDIS financial and record-keeping requirements.
n
- Manage NDIA-related claim file downloads and uploads through PRODA.
n
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and funding submissions.
n
- Monitor financial KPIs, cash flow, funding and expenditure.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and workflows.
n
- Contribute to process automation and improved reporting.
n
- Provide finance-related guidance and support to internal teams.
n
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects and other finance and administrative duties as required.

About You
n
Our client is looking for a capable finance professional who combines robust technical skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
- Formal qualifications in Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related field, such as a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Diploma of Accounting.
n
- Proven experience using Xero, particularly across payroll, invoicing, BAS and reconciliations.
n
- Experience preparing financial reports and supporting audits.
n
- Strong knowledge of payroll and financial administration.
n
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
n
- High computer literacy and confidence using financial and administrative systems.
n
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
n
- The ability to effectively manage finance inboxes and competing priorities.
n
- The ability to work effectively within a small and diverse team.
n
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
n
- A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach.
n
n
Desirable Experience
n
Experience within the NDIS, disability, community services or not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
n
Familiarity with PRODA, NDIA processes and NDIS financial requirements will also be advantageous.
n
Compliance Requirements
n
The successful candidate will be required to hold or obtain:
n
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- Working with Children Check, where applicable
n
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
n
n
