Systems Engineer - Mining | DIDO | 1 Week On / 1 Week Off

We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a key mining client in Central Queensland.

n

This is a drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) opportunity suited to someone based around Blackwater, Emerald, Mackay or surrounding areas, with the ability to travel to site for their rostered week.

n

You'll be working in a hands-on infrastructure environment supporting critical server, cloud and network systems. The role is primarily L2 with a pathway towards L3, with opportunities to take on more project work and build your technical capability as you develop in the role.

The Roster Week 1: 10-hour days onsite at the mine, supporting BAU, infrastructure, escalations and project work.

n

Week 2: Normal working hours from home, focusing on monitoring, administration, change management and remote support across mining clients.

What You'll Be Doing

n

n
- Support and maintain server, virtualisation and cloud infrastructure
n
- Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft Cloud Services
n
- Support network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless and VPNs
n
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex L2/L3 escalations
n
- Take a proactive approach to identifying issues and carrying out root cause analysis
n
- Assist with infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, deployments and lifecycle replacements
n
- Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
n
- Work closely with onsite technicians and client stakeholders
n
- Provide remote infrastructure support to other mining accounts during WFH weeks
n
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and change records
n




- Work within mine site safety requirements and operational procedures
n

What You'll Bring

n

n
- Experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Systems Administrator or similar
n
- Previous mining experience is required
n
- Strong experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID
n
- Solid networking knowledge across TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls and VPNs
n
- Experience with VMware or Hyper-V
n
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery and monitoring solutions
n
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
n
- A proactive approach to BAU support and infrastructure management
n
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues
n
- Strong communication skills when working with technical teams and clients
n
- Current Australian driver's licence and ability to travel to mine sites
n
- Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment medical, including regular drug and alcohol testing
n
- Current Coal Board Medical (CBM) and/or Standard 11
n
- Experience with Halo PSA or similar PSA
n
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801 or equivalent
n
- Experience with Ninja RMM, Auvik or similar monitoring platforms
n
