Michels Catering and Events – Townsville QLD

As our Senior Events Manager, you will manage events from confirmed booking through to successful delivery and close-out. This is a hands-on leadership role combining event planning, client service, operational delivery and business development. You will work closely with our Managing Director, Executive Chef, administration team, event staff, venues and suppliers to ensure every event is professionally delivered and commercially successful. You will also play an important role in growing the business by developing client relationships, generating new and repeat bookings, and creating Michel's-owned events, seasonal promotions and venue activations.

Key responsibilities

Manage allocated events from confirmation through to completion

Confirm menus, timings, dietaries, staffing, equipment, venue access, beverages and hire requirements

Prepare accurate event orders, timelines and run sheets

Coordinate clients, kitchen staff, event teams, venues, suppliers and equipment

Lead event setup, staff briefings, service delivery, problem-solving, pack-down and venue handover

Ensure events are delivered safely, professionally, on time and within approved budgets

Act as the main operational contact for clients and communicate changes, deadlines and approvals clearly

Manage client expectations and identify suitable opportunities to enhance each booking

Complete post-event reporting, staff hours, incident records, client follow-up and team debriefs

Build relationships with clients, venues, businesses, community organisations and event partners

About you

Demonstrated experience coordinating functions, events,



catering or hospitality operations

Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail

The ability to manage multiple events, deadlines and changing priorities

Confident leadership skills and the ability to brief and direct event teams

Qualified written and verbal communication skills

Strong client service, sales and relationship-building capabilities

A proactive approach to generating leads, following up opportunities and securing repeat business

Commercial awareness, including an understanding of labour, event costs and profitability

The ability to anticipate problems, make sound operational decisions and remain calm under pressure

A thorough and responsible approach to dietaries, allergens, food safety and workplace safety
