Tahmoor Inn is a recently renovated, modern country hotel offering a welcoming environment for locals, families and visitors. The venue features a busy family bistro, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a sports bar, function facilities and accommodation.
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the bistro offers an extensive menu featuring pub favourites, Asian-inspired dishes, freshly prepared pizzas, daily specials and family-friendly options.
The venue is now seeking a qualified and experienced Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team and contribute to the venue’s continued growth.
This is a hands‑on position suited to a reliable and motivated chef who enjoys working in a busy, high‑volume kitchen. You will take responsibility for your allocated section, maintain consistent food quality and support the senior chefs with the efficient operation of the kitchen.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present meals in accordance with the venue’s recipes, standards and presentation requirements.
- Manage an allocated kitchen section during busy lunch, dinner and function services.
- Complete daily mise en place and ensure the section is properly prepared before service.
- Operate across different sections of the kitchen, including grill, pans, fryer, larder and functions, as required.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, cooking temperatures and presentation.
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with menu preparation, daily specials and seasonal menu changes.
- Cater for dietary requirements, food allergies and special customer requests.
- Coordinate with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared accurately and served promptly.
- Provide guidance, supervision and on‑job training to cooks, apprentices and junior kitchen staff.
- Assist with ordering,
receiving and checking food supplies.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and follow correct stock rotation and storage procedures.
- Monitor food usage, minimise wastage and assist with food‑cost control.
- Ensure compliance with food‑safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workstation throughout each shift.
- Clean and correctly maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and food‑preparation areas.
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning and kitchen handover procedures.
- Support the kitchen team during functions, special events and other high‑volume trading periods.
About you To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Cook in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Strong practical skills across several kitchen sections.
- Experience delivering consistent food quality during high‑volume service.
- A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen‑management requirements.
- Good communication, organisation and time‑management skills.
- The ability to supervise and support junior kitchen staff.
- A positive, reliable and team‑focused approach.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
