Whiz Kidz Early Learning Centre & Pre School – Northmead NSW

Whiz Kidz Early Learning Centre & Preschool is seeking a Centre Chef to join our team at our 83-place service in Northmead.

This is a permanent part-time position working Monday & Tuesday 7am-3pm, preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our children each day.

As our Centre Chef, you will be greeted each day by our children who, in turn, will become your toughest critics! We are looking for someone who loves cooking for children and families, enjoys creating healthy and interesting meals, and takes pride in sharing their passion for food and cooking with children.

The successful candidate will take pride in having empty plates returned to the kitchen, knowing that the children have enjoyed their food.

In this role, you will create delicious and nutritious meals for children aged between 6 weeks and 6 years, ensuring the highest hygiene standards and best-practice food safety are always maintained within the kitchen.

The Whiz Kidz group are family owned and operated childcare centres across NSW and VIC. Our owners are two sisters, both with young children, who have a passion for quality childcare and early education.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience in a similar childcare, commercial or hospitality setting

- Qualifications in Commercial Cookery

- The ability to adjust meals to cater for different dietary requirements and allergies

- A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices

- A flexible, enthusiastic and positive attitude

- Valuable time management skills to ensure mealtimes run smoothly

- Ability to work independently and manage the kitchen efficiently





- A current National Foundations Child Safety Training certificate

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for up to 83 children each day

- Menu planning and ensuring meals meet children's nutritional needs

- Catering for allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements

- Stock control and preparing shopping lists

- Adhering to food safety requirements and best-practice hygiene standards

- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen

- Completing basic food preparation and cooking tasks

- Completing and recording all required food and temperature checks

- Working collaboratively with the Centre Director and educators to ensure the children's dietary needs are met
