Cattle Farm Manager - Fixed Term (12-months)

Mackays Group is seeking an experienced and hands-on Cattle Manager to join our team on a fixed-term basis, (maternity leave cover).

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Cattle Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of cattle and farm operations, including livestock, pasture, farm assets, safety and the farm team.

About the role

This is a hands-on management position suited to an experienced beef cattle skilled who enjoys leading a team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day farm operations.

Key responsibilities

- Managing day-to-day cattle operations, including animal health, breeding, nutrition, mustering and livestock movements.
- Monitoring cattle performance, pasture, feed and water to optimise production.
- Managing farm assets, infrastructure, equipment and maintenance.
- Leading, developing and motivating the farm team.
- Managing farm budgets and operational expenditure.




- Maintaining high standards of animal welfare, WHS, compliance and quality.
- Supporting strategic and operational planning to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes.

About you

- Demonstrated experience in beef cattle and farm management.
- Strong practical livestock and pasture management skills.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- A strong understanding of animal welfare, WHS and farm compliance.
- Sound financial and operational management skills.
- A hands-on, practical approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
