Supervision: The position is under the direction of the Community Environment Network’s CEO.

The Community Environment Network (CEN) is an alliance of individuals, community and environmental organisations that work for ecologically sustainable development and against threats to it. CEN is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation and is not aligned with any political party.

CEN’s activities include advocacy, education, community engagement, delivering on-ground works, supporting member organisations, and monitoring the environment. (See Aims and Objectives below).

We currently require a job share Nursery / Volunteer Coordinator for our expanding Wildplant Community Nursery.

The position will work with our CEO, casual nursery coordinator and relevant staff of CEN to educate and engage the community of the importance of local native plants while supervising nursery volunteers undertaking propagation.

You will play a key role in growing high-quality nursery stock from locally collected seed and cuttings while helping visitors connect with native plants and sustainable gardening practices. You'll contribute to a safe, productive and environmentally responsible workplace while building positive relationships with customers, volunteers and the wider community.

The position will work under the direction of the CEO to produce quality nursery stock while connecting with people, sharing your knowledge and creating positive experiences for volunteers, customers and community members.

The objectives of position will be to:

- Oversee day-to-day operations, plant propagation, biosecurity, hygiene, and strict quality control of indigenous flora




- Provide advice and assistance to nursery visitors on native plants and gardening practices
- Operating and maintaining nursery equipment and irrigation systems
- Maintaining nursery records and reporting maintenance requirements
- Supporting plant production for landscaping and revegetation projects
- Building positive relationships with customers, volunteers and community groups
- Supporting community engagement, education and environmental awareness initiatives
- Working safely and contributing to a positive team culture

Selection Criteria:

1. Commitment to the aims and objectives of CEN (see below)
2. Proven experience in production nursery management
3. Experience propagating Australian native plants from seed and cuttings
4. Experience with irrigation systems and nursery equipment
5. Excellent communication and customer service skills including solid computer literacy with experience managing digital stock records, spreadsheets.
6. A natural ability to supervise, train, and support a diverse volunteer team of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities
7. Strong commitment to workplace health and safety including current First Aid Certificate.
8. Working With Children Check (WWCC) in NSW
9. Current drivers licence; own car with comprehensive third-party insurance.
