Are you a skilled Final Trim Excavator Operator who can deliver precise, high-quality civil earthworks?
701 Recruitment is seeking experienced Final Trim Excavator Operators for ongoing opportunities with a leading civil construction contractor working across Southeast Queensland.
We are specifically looking for operators with genuine final trim experience in civil construction, who understand the importance of accuracy, levels, tolerances and achieving a quality finish.
This is not a bulk earthworks-only position. You must be confident completing detailed excavation and precision trimming work, rather than simply having general excavator operating experience.

About the role
You will be operating excavators across civil construction projects, undertaking detailed excavation, trimming and earthworks while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and workmanship.
Your duties will include:

- Completing precision final trim excavation to within a 30mm tolerance
- Interpreting site levels, plans and job specifications to achieve the required finished levels
- Understanding cut and fill requirements and how to achieve the correct formation
- Carrying out detailed excavation, including footings, trenches and drainage works
- Stripping footings and completing basic trimming
- Operating 5T,



14T and 20T excavators - confidence operating smaller machines is essential
- Working in tight proximity to existing underground services, other machinery and site personnel while maintaining safe operating practices.
- Loading trucks and moving materials as required
- Completing daily pre-starts and machine safety checks
- Assisting with general civil labouring duties when required

What we're looking for
Final trim experience is essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a genuine understanding of precision civil excavation and the requirements of final trim operating.
To be considered, you will need:

- Mandatory: Excavator RII ticket
- Current White Card
- Proven excavator operating experience within civil construction
- Demonstrated experience completing final trim work, not just bulk earthworks
- Ability to work to specified levels, grades and tolerances, including a 30mm final trim tolerance
- Understanding of civil construction plans, levels and detailed excavation requirements
- Confidence operating smaller excavators, including 5T machines
- GPS experience highly regarded, but not essential
- Own reliable transport
- Flexibility to travel across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and reliability
- Willingness to assist with labouring duties when required

Important - Please read before applying We are looking for operators who understand what is involved in achieving a quality final trim finish on civil construction projects.
Experience solely in mining, quarry work or bulk earthmoving will not be sufficient unless you can also demonstrate practical civil final trim experience.
