Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) works to alleviate poverty and promote self-determination for the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

We are seeking an organised and culturally respectful Heritage & Culture Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis.

This is a key coordination role responsible for ensuring heritage survey activities are planned, delivered and documented in a culturally appropriate, efficient and compliant manner.

As the Heritage & Culture Coordinator, you will act as the primary liaison for heritage survey activities and provide operational, logistical and administrative support to Traditional Owners participating in surveys. You will coordinate survey schedules and logistics, support culturally appropriate engagement, maintain accurate heritage records, and help ensure activities comply with relevant Western Australian legislation, Gumala agreements, cultural governance processes and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate the planning, logistics and administration of heritage surveys, including travel, accommodation, equipment, catering, and health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate approvals for on-site heritage work and support compliance with legislation, agreements and internal procedures.
- Review survey reports and prepare clear summaries, recommendations and action plans.
- Support budgeting, quotations, invoicing, reconciliation and reporting for heritage activities.




- Provide regular advice and operational updates on schedules, risks, issues and project outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience coordinating logistics, projects or operational activities.
- Experience in records management and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Experience working with Aboriginal people and communities.
- Strong organisational, reporting and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to cultural heritage preservation
