We're Alignr, a modern recruitment partner helping ambitious businesses hire smarter and faster.
This time we're partnering exclusively with a leader in Australian industrial and commercial flooring. They supply and install a premium, rapid-cure resin system that fully cures in about an hour, so customers barely have to stop. Their work spans a huge range of industries, including hospitality, commercial, industrial and warehousing, and more.
This is a field sales role, and it's an important one. The owner is currently covering it himself while running the business, which isn't sustainable. You'll own inbound conversion and land-and-expand across the existing customer book, with genuine cold prospecting on top. The lead flow is strong, the job is to convert that flow, hunt out recent opportunities, and actually close it.
Are you looking for...
- A field sales role where you're genuinely out in front of customers and on site, not stuck behind a desk?
- Strong warm inbound and an active customer book to grow into, rather than starting from a cold list?
- A genuinely uncapped, pay-for-performance commission structure with no cap on what a strong closer can earn?
- A premium, differentiated product with a real technical edge, for a business that's professionalised and on a clear growth path?
- A direct line to a commercially sharp owner, with fast decisions and real ownership of the sales function?
What's in it for you
- Paying up to $100k base + Super + Car or Car allowance
- Genuinely uncapped, attractive commission, pay for performance with no cap on a good salesperson earning well
- Strong warm inbound lead flow and an active existing customer book to land-and-expand into
- A premium, genuinely differentiated product with a real technical edge (rapid cure, cold cure, decades of life, minimal downtime)
- Bayswater HQ Location
- A business on a clear growth path, targeting a tripling of revenue by 2030, with two national clients about to sign
- A proper, modern setup for an SME (HubSpot, a formal sales process, consistent branding)
- Varied, interesting work across aquatic, food and beverage, hospitality and more
- A company that hires on attitudes not just skill and experience
- A real chance to shape the sales function and grow with the business
The business
They supply and install a premium, rapid-cure MMA resin flooring system, fully cured and forklift-ready about an hour after finishing. Operating since 1977, they've installed close to a million square metres across Australia, backed by a 5-year materials-and-workmanship guarantee.
Mobilising from Melbourne with national reach, the business is growing and has big growth goals. Under new ownership it's been professionalised significantly, with a proper sales process, HubSpot CRM and consistent branding, and focus on being far more proactive for it's clients and signing recent deals regularly.
The product edge is real.
Unlike others, the system bonds as one piece rather than layers, so it lasts for decades. It's non-slip, food-secure, chemical-resistant and joint-free. Best of all, it installs in cold, operating environments overnight, so customers never have to shut down.
The role
You'll report directly to the owner and managing director, and sit within a small, growing team. A separate BDM covers architecture and design and specification selling, so that's out of scope here, this role is focused on inbound sales and land-and-expand across the existing book, with a genuine element of cold prospecting.
The markets are varied and interesting. Aquatic and recreation is the bread and butter (swim schools, council aquatic centres, private schools, hospitals with hydrotherapy pools, sporting and AFL clubs), alongside commercial food and beverage (breweries, distilleries, wineries, bakeries, dairy, abattoirs, seafood, food manufacturing), commercial hospitality (restaurants, cafes and commercial kitchens), plus hospitals and aged care, data centres, public transport, chemical and mining, and high-margin one-offs.
To be clear up front: this is not a work-from-home role. You'll be office-based while you learn this niche, technical product, then out on the road more days than not, on sites, in high-vis, with a tape measure. If you want to run everything over video calls from a spare room, this isn't the one.
What you'll own
- Convert strong inbound lead flow (phone, web, existing customers) into closed sales
- Land-and-expand across the existing back book, particularly the active council relationships
- Do genuine cold prospecting to build pipeline on top of the inbound
- Get out on site: measure up (tape, laser measurer), take-offs, safety gear, site visits
- Talk credibly to facilities and CAPEX managers, councils and operators about multiple sites and staged work
- Own the full cycle in HubSpot: respond, log, quote, ask for the sale, secure the PO, hand to operations
- Structure the week to balance customer visits with quoting, follow-up and desk work
Who we're looking for
The owner's philosophy is hire for attitude and train for success. The product can be learned, so flooring or industry experience is not required.
- A genuine field-sales, face-to-face seller, not an enterprise SaaS or desk-bound salesperson. This is boots, high-vis, hard hat and a tape measure, out in front of customers
- Someone who can actually close: asks for the sale, pushes for the PO,
and takes a deal from enquiry to closed rather than endlessly following up
- Comfortable with both inbound conversion and land-and-expand, with the drive to do some cold prospecting too
- Some blue-collar or industrial and construction-adjacent feel, comfortable on sites and around trades
- A consultative seller who's energetic, keen to learn and self-motivated
- Organised enough to structure the week, balancing customer visits with quoting, take-offs and follow-up in the CRM
- Comfortable being office-based while learning, then majority on the road
- Likely earlier in their career, with attitude and hunger valued over decades of experience, and a genuine fit with a fast-moving, owner-led SME
Who this isn't for
- Desk-bound or work-from-home types, this is a field sales role and being on site is the job
- "Too nice" salespeople who can't ask for the sale or push for a PO
- Anyone lacking attention to detail or the drive to do the site visits and the work
- Enterprise or SaaS sellers who want to run everything over video calls from a spare room
- Anyone with integrity issues, the owner has been burned by reps who said they were doing site visits and weren't
- People who need heavy structure or want to be a small cog, this is a hands-on, owner-led SME
- Pure inbound order-takers with no hunting drive, or pure cold-callers who can't nurture the warm book
Must-haves
- Proven field sales, face-to-face selling out in front of customers preferably within an industrial or construction-adjacent background
- A genuine ability to close, ask for the sale and secure the PO
- Experience across both inbound conversion and cold prospecting or the willingness to do so
- Comfort on sites and around trades, in high-vis with a tape measure
- Attention to detail and the drive to do the site visits and the work
- Self-motivation, energy and a genuine fit with a fast-moving, owner-led SME
- Comfortable being office-based while ramping, then majority on the road
Nice to haves
- Experience selling a technical or premium product
- HubSpot or other CRM experience
