The opportunity

Looking to grow your perioperative nursing career in a supportive, specialised setting? We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (Year 1 or Year 2) to join our Ophthalmic Day Surgery team on a part-time basis, 3 days per week, starting immediately. This is more than just a job — it's a structured pathway to develop skills across Admission, Recovery, Scrub/Scout and Anaesthetics, all while enjoying the work-life balance of day surgery hours.

In this role, you will:

- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care with a strong focus on patient safety and surgical excellence.
- Perform scrub/scout duties or support anaesthetic/recovery functions depending on your experience.
- Liaise effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre staff to ensure seamless case flow.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- Actively contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement of clinical practices.

About Footscray Day Surgery

Located at 89 Paisley St in the heart of Footscray, close to train stations and diagonally opposite the Footscray library,



this purpose-built ophthalmic day surgery is equipped with a state-of-the-art theatre and the latest surgical technology. As part of the wider Vision Eye Institute Footscray precinct — the oldest ophthalmology clinic in Melbourne's western suburbs, providing eye care to the local community since 1960 — you'll join an experienced, progressive team of doctors, nurses and theatre staff delivering cataract surgery, glaucoma management, corneal procedures, occuloplastics and more, under the leadership of Director of Nursing.

About you

We’re looking for a nurse who is calm, and passionate about delivering exceptional surgical care.

You will also bring:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Year 1 or Year 2 nursing experience
- Willingness to undertake perioperative/ophthalmic-specific training
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team.
- Commitment to infection control, WHS and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
