Join the team at the Bay Islands Aquatic Centre on Russell Island, where you'll help provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for all patrons while supporting the day-to-day operations of the facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing exceptional customer service and creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all aquatic centre patrons.

- Actively supervising pool users and ensuring compliance with facility rules and safety requirements.

- Responding to emergency situations, including performing rescues, first aid, and resuscitation where required.

- Assisting with pool testing, cleaning, and general facility maintenance to ensure high standards of safety and presentation.

- Completing opening and closing procedures and supporting the day-to-day operation of the aquatic centre.

- Participating in training and maintaining the skills and fitness required to perform lifeguarding duties effectively.

Skills and experience:

- Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

- Experience working in an aquatic environment, ideally in a lifeguarding capacity.

- Commitment to safety, risk management and patron wellbeing.

- Reliable and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

- Experience in facility maintenance, cleaning, cash handling and/or point of sale (POS) operations.

- Pool Operator's Certificate is highly regarded.

Eligibility:

- You'll hold a current Provide First Aid qualification.

- You'll hold a current Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation qualification.

- You'll hold a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate (RLSSA), or be willing to obtain one. Council may support the right candidate to obtain this qualification.

- You'll have a current Paid Blue Card, or will have the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.

- Successful applicants will be asked to consent to a criminal history check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.

- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
