Complex Supreme Court Work | Genuine Autonomy

A respected Brisbane-based law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Litigator to join its established litigation team. This could suit someone as an Associate, Senior Associate or Special Counsel depending on your years of experience.

The position provides the opportunity to work on sophisticated and high-value disputes before the Supreme and District Courts of Queensland, alongside an experienced team of litigators. Ideal for a confident and commercially minded practitioner, the role involves independently managing a varied portfolio of matters while also taking an active role in mentoring junior lawyers and support staff.

The Role

You will manage a broad commercial litigation practice including matters involving:

- Contractual disputes

- Equity and trusts

- Corporations Act matters

- Consumer protection

- Building and construction disputes

- Property disputes and resumptions

- Wills and estate litigation

- Insolvency

You will appear in the Supreme and District Courts of Queensland, including matters in the Commercial List, Supervised Case List, and Wills & Estates List, and be involved in:

- Applications for injunctive relief, including ex parte

- Interlocutory hearings

- Pleadings, disclosure, expert evidence, amendments and security for costs

- Briefing and instructing Counsel, including Senior Counsel

- Mediations, hearings and trials

About You





- 4 + years of solid Commercial Litigation experience (up to Special Counsel level)

- Strong knowledge of UCPR and litigation procedure

- Confident running files with minimal supervision

- Comfortable appearing in Court and managing complex interlocutory processes

- Experienced in briefing and instructing Counsel

- Able to communicate effectively with a broad client base, from individuals to high-net-worth and corporate clients

- Proven ability to mentor junior lawyers and supervise support staff

- Reliable, self-sufficient, and capable of stepping up when required
