Our client is seeking a Project Engineer / Level 2 IT Technician to join their growing Toowoomba team. This is a varied role combining office-based equipment configuration and preparation with Australia-wide customer travel to deliver IT projects and technical solutions.
You'll configure and provision hardware in the Toowoomba office before deployment, then travel to customer sites to install, configure and troubleshoot IT infrastructure.
Travel is a key part of the role, averaging around two weeks per month, although this will vary depending on project demand. Some periods may involve little travel, while busier periods can include consecutive weeks away. Travel may be by plane, train or vehicle as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Configure, provision and prepare IT hardware and equipment for customer deployment.
- Deliver Level 2 technical support across hardware, software, infrastructure and networking environments.
- Assist with the delivery of customer IT projects from configuration through to onsite implementation.
- Travel Australia-wide to customer sites to install, configure and troubleshoot equipment.
- Configure and deploy switches, routers, access points and other network infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot DHCP, DNS, firewalls and IP networks.
- Assist with point-to-point network deployments and basic routing.
- Configure and provision infrastructure and third-party software.
- Manage Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Deploy and configure printers and other end-user hardware.
- Troubleshoot technical issues onsite and remotely.
- Work with different customer environments and adapt solutions to suit their requirements.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and project records.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and the service delivery team.
- Continue developing technical skills and maintain required industry certifications.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded Level 2 IT support background and be confident working across both technical support and project environments.
You will ideally have experience with:
- DHCP
- DNS
- Firewalls
- IP networks
- Point-to-point networking
- Wireless access points
- Basic routing
- Infrastructure configuration and provisioning
- Switch and router configuration and deployment
- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- Printer deployment
- Third-party software configuration and provisioning
- Microsoft technologies
Previous experience working for an IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) would be highly regarded, as it will help you understand the challenges of working across multiple customer environments.
