The Story
Our client is a private landholder of premium Australian agricultural assets, managing a diverse portfolio of over 70,000 hectares across eastern Australia. Recognised as an industry leader in sustainable livestock and crop production, the business is built on continuous improvement, strong commercial scale, and high standards for land and animal welfare.

Within their high-performing Victorian aggregation, a new and exciting chance has arisen for a steady, experienced Overseer to work across two key properties, located approximately 10 minutes west of Hawkesdale. This role is tailored for a self-directed stockperson who brings a calm, clear-thinking approach to daily operations and thrives on taking pride in livestock outcomes.

The Operation
With the recent expansion of the operation, the combined holdings span approximately 1,694 hectares of productive, well-improved country. The enterprise runs approximately 1,100 spring-calving Angus cows that produce high-quality progeny for the feeder market, alongside 3,000 composite ewes that finish prime lambs for the supermarket trade.

Both properties are set up with strong infrastructure, including sound fencing, well-designed laneway systems, and reliable stock water. Upgraded cattle yards are scheduled for installation in January to further enhance stock flow, operational safety, and labour efficiency. Major cropping, spraying, sowing, and pasture renovation programs are undertaken by external contractors, while primary machinery servicing is outsourced—allowing this role to maintain a direct, sharp focus on stock handling, pasture utilisation, and general infrastructure maintenance.

The Role
Working alongside an energetic young manager who has a strong sheep background, you will bring a sharp, confident focus to the cattle operation while working collaboratively across both livestock streams. As the primary hands-on driver of day-to-day livestock duties across the two properties, you will work closely with the Manager while demonstrating the confidence to think ahead,



handle stock movements independently, and execute animal husbandry programs without needing constant guidance.

Key responsibilities include stock shifts, cattle and sheep handling, calving and lambing duties, drafting, weight monitoring, and general stock health treatments. You will also handle routine farm maintenance, including fence repairs, water checks, and minor structural welding. This position offers a fantastic team dynamic for a grounded, reliable professional who communicates clearly, builds trust quickly, and enjoys working alongside a driven manager.

The Ideal Candidate
We are searching for a confident, practical stockperson with genuine "stock sense", strong cattle competency, and a proven ability to work independently.
Essential requirements include:

- Solid hands-on livestock experience working with both cattle and sheep, with a particular strength and confidence in cattle management.
- A quality team of working dogs capable of handling cattle and sheep efficiently.
- Practical maintenance skills, including basic mechanical knowledge, fence repairs, and general welding.
- A steady, clear-headed problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate daily operational needs.
