We are looking for an experienced regional leader who understands natural resource management, and or agriculture and the realities of delivering programs across the Kimberley.

You will bring strong regional knowledge and established relationships across Broome and the wider Kimberley, with networks extending into the Pilbara highly regarded. You will understand the environmental, cultural, social and economic context of northern Australia and be confident working across Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations, pastoralists and land managers, industry, community, local government, and State and Commonwealth government.

You will be someone who can build on existing relationships while developing new ones, particularly across government and industry. You will understand how government agencies, funding programs, grants and contracts operate, including the importance of contractual obligations, reporting, compliance and financial accountability.

Importantly, this is not solely a management role. You will carry your own program and project portfolio, with responsibility for delivery and associated budgets, while building and leading a small Broome-based team as the regional workload and opportunities grow.

You will be comfortable moving between strategic and hands-on responsibilities — developing partnerships and new opportunities one day and working through project delivery, budgets, contracts and reporting the next.

We are looking for someone who can see opportunities, build the relationships needed to progress them and translate those opportunities into well-designed, practical projects that deliver outcomes for Country and regional communities.

The Role

The Regional Manager will provide leadership for our client’s Broome operations and broader activities across the Kimberley.

The role combines regional leadership, relationship management, program and project delivery, business development and team leadership.

The Regional Manager will manage their own portfolio of programs, projects and budgets and will be accountable for delivery against agreed milestones, contractual requirements, financial performance and reporting obligations.

A key part of the role will also be identifying and developing new opportunities.



This will include building partnerships, preparing proposals and funding submissions, working with government and industry, and identifying opportunities that align with the organisation’s strategic objectives and the needs of the region.

As the portfolio develops, the Regional Manager will have the opportunity to shape and build the Broome team around the work, identifying the capability and people required and then leading, mentoring and developing that team.

The role requires someone who can operate confidently at a senior regional level while remaining closely connected to project delivery and the people and partners doing the work on the ground.

Key Requirements

- Relevant qualification: Degree qualified in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Land Management, Sustainability, Community Development or a relevant complementary discipline.

- NRM and/or agricultural knowledge: Strong understanding of natural resource management and/or agriculture and regional NRM delivery.

- Regional knowledge and networks: Strong knowledge of Broome and the Kimberley, supported by established and trusted regional relationships. Networks extending into the Pilbara would be highly regarded.

- Stakeholder engagement: Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations, pastoralists and land managers, industry, community, local government, and State and Commonwealth government.

- Landscape-scale delivery: Understanding of the complexities of working across multiple land tenures and delivering projects and programs at landscape and regional scale.

- Government and funding: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain government relationships, with a sound understanding of government agencies, funding programs, grants, contracts, reporting and compliance requirements.

- Program and financial management: Demonstrated experience managing programs, projects and budgets, including milestones, contractual obligations, reporting, risk and financial performance.

- Business and opportunity development: Experience developing partnerships, project concepts, proposals and funding submissions, with the ability to identify and progress new opportunities.

- Leadership: Capability to build,



lead and mentor a small regional team and identify the skills and resources required as the portfolio develops.

- Senior representation: Confidence representing the organisation at a senior regional level and building its profile, relationships and reputation across the Kimberley.

- Communication and judgement: Solid written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.

- Strategic and hands-on approach: Ability to think strategically and beyond individual projects while remaining actively involved in program and project development and delivery.

- Regional experience: Experience working in northern, regional or remote Australia would be highly regarded.

- Driver’s Licence: Valid C Class Manual WA Driver’s Licence.

- Police clearance: Current Police Clearance.

Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 + Super, depending on skills and experience
