Financial Crime Operations Analyst - FinXL Associate Program
Launch your financial-crime career with a Tier 1 Australian banking client
Are you early in your career and looking to build practical experience in financial crime, banking operations, risk and transformation?
FinXL is seeking motivated Associate-level Financial Crime Operations Analysts to support a major Tier 1 banking client on a long-term financial-crime transformation initiative.
This is a junior opportunity designed for people with around one to two years of relevant experience who want to build a meaningful career in a regulated banking environment. You will begin in hands‑on financial-crime operations, then progressively gain exposure to process improvement, transformation and project work.
This is more than a short‑term contract: the program is expected to run for three or more years, with rolling 12‑month engagements.
About the FinXL Associate Program
The FinXL Associate Program is designed to help early‑career professionals build consulting experience while working on meaningful client projects.
You'll receive:
- Practical experience with a major Australian banking client
- Exposure to financial crime, banking operations, risk and transformation
- Support from the FinXL team throughout your assignment
- Access to professional development and training opportunities
- The chance to build a strong professional network
- A pathway into broader consulting, process improvement and project opportunities as your experience grows
The role
Initially, you will support financial‑crime operations by working with customer,
account and transaction information in a structured and controlled environment.
Your first six months are likely to include:
- Reviewing, collating and validating customer, account and transaction information
- Supporting case management, including accurate case notes and supporting documentation
- Investigating discrepancies, incomplete records and information gaps
- Identifying unusual activity, patterns or exceptions for further review or escalation
- Working with internal stakeholders to resolve customer‑data, process and quality issues
- Following defined risk, compliance, confidentiality and documentation requirements
As you develop in the role, you can expect increasing exposure to:
- Process mapping and workflow analysis
- Identifying recurring operational issues and improvement opportunities
- Process redesign, standardisation and control improvements
- Operational reporting and data analysis
- Testing, implementation, training and broader change activities
What we're looking for
You don't need to have done every part of the role before. We are looking for people with the right foundation, attention to detail and genuine interest in building a career in financial crime and banking operations.
You may have one to two years of experience in:
- Banking or financial services operations
- Financial crime, fraud,
KYC, AML or customer due diligence
- Customer remediation, reconciliations or dispute resolution
- Risk, compliance or another regulated operational environment
- Customer data, case management, operational reporting or process improvement
You will also bring:
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with sensitive information
- A methodical approach to investigating discrepancies and following structured processes
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage competing priorities
- Excel capability; exposure to SQL, Power BI, workflow tools or process mapping is advantageous
- A business, commerce, finance, economics, analytics or related degree is preferred, though relevant transferable experience will be considered
Salary, contract and location
- Salary is based on experience and capability, with a starting point of approximately $65,000 + super and room for growth
- Rolling 12‑month contract arrangements
- Program expected to run for three or more years
- Expected start date: around mid‑November
- Visa holders may be considered, subject to suitable work rights
This is a junior Associate-level opportunity
This role is specifically designed as an early‑career pathway. We are seeking candidates with around one to two years of relevant experience who are keen to learn, grow and develop over time.
Senior candidates or candidates seeking senior analyst, leadership or highly specialised financial‑crime roles are not likely to be suitable for this opportunity.
