- Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings, timber and other materials
- Applying paint, stains and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
- Mixing paint colours and ensuring consistency with project specifications
- Using hand tools and equipment safely and effectively, including ladders, scaffolding and access equipment
- Protecting surrounding areas and structures from paint splatter and damage during application
- Following health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised work site
- Learning to read and interpret building plans, specifications and technical drawings
- Working collaboratively with senior painters, construction teams and site supervisors
- Assisting with the maintenance and care of painting equipment and tools
- Completing on-the-job training whilst undertaking structured apprenticeship coursework
What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in the painting and decorating trade
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship
- Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude towards learning
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Valuable communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A current or valid driver's license is preferred
- No prior painting experience is required—we value enthusiasm and willingness to learn
