The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a technically solid Senior Treasury Operations Analyst to join the finance function of a major Australian retail business. This is a broad finance operations and treasury role, sitting within a sizable team and providing an additional senior layer across a high-volume, transaction-driven environment. The role is spilt betweenFinance Operations, Accounting and projects, giving you exposure across daily banking and settlement activities, cash and liquidity management, reconciliations, financial risk, reporting, controls and process improvement. There is also a technical accounting component, including General Ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations and hedge accounting.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Treasury and Finance Operations leader, you will act as the 2IC within the team, providing technical guidance and oversight while remaining hands-on across the day-to-day operation.

- Review and oversee the work performed across the team, ensuring accuracy and strong financial controls.
- Provide technical accounting and finance operations support across a high-volume transaction environment.
- Manage and analyse banking, settlements, cash flows, merchant facilities,



FX and other financial transactions.
- Support cash and liquidity management, financial risk and treasury reporting.
- Maintain General Ledger integrity and complete complex balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support hedge accounting and other technical accounting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting and the use of data.
- Take ownership of projects and initiatives entering the team.
- Coach and develop more junior team members, providing a senior technical point of reference.

The Expertise

You will ideally be a CA or CPA qualified accountant with strong technical accounting and analytical foundations. You may already have treasury or finance operations experience, or you could be a strong technical accountant looking to pivot your career into treasury.

- Strong accounting fundamentals and analytical capability.
- Experience across reconciliations, General Ledger and balance sheet management.
- An interest in treasury, cash management and financial operations.
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability.
- Confidence working with high volumes of financial data and transactions.
- The ability to review, challenge and improve processes rather than simply complete them.
- A hands-on approach combined with the maturity to provide guidance to others.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The capability and desire to step into a genuine 2IC / senior technical role.
