Hester Hornbrook Academy is seeking an experienced and compassionate School Psychologist to join its Geelong Campus.

Working as part of Hester Hornbrook Academy's Allied Health team, you will provide psychological assessment, counselling and therapeutic support to young people experiencing personal, socio-emotional, learning and vocational challenges, helping strengthen their wellbeing, engagement and participation in education.

Hester Hornbrook Academy is an independently registered Special Assistance School providing flexible, inclusive education for young people aged 15–25 who experience barriers to traditional learning.

Through its Healing Orientated Program of Education (HOPE), the Academy integrates learning, wellbeing and life skills to support young people to re-engage with education and pursue meaningful pathways.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the Head of Allied Health, the School Psychologist works collaboratively with students, classroom teams, families, wellbeing staff, campus leaders and external professionals.
n Key responsibilities include:

n

- Providing psychological counselling, therapy and support to individual students and groups
n
- Undertaking psychological and psychoeducational assessments
n
- Supporting students experiencing mental health, emotional, behavioural and learning challenges
n
- Providing advice and guidance to classroom teams around youth mental health
n
- Supporting wellbeing and crisis situations as required
n
- Liaising with families, external clinicians and community agencies
n




- Contributing to wellbeing programs and professional learning across the Academy
n
- Maintaining appropriate confidential records and professional standards
n

- Maintaining appropriate confidential records and skilled standards

About You

n

You will be a collaborative and student-centred psychologist with a strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health and the connection between wellbeing and educational engagement.
n You will bring:

n

n
- Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
n
- A current Working with Children Check
n
- A minimum of three years' experience in assessment and diagnosis, ideally within a school environment or working with adolescents
n
- Experience with psychoeducational assessment tools and report writing
n
- Experience developing and implementing mental health, socio-emotional and wellbeing programs
n
- A commitment to trauma-informed practice, inclusion and child safety
n
- Strong communication, relationship-building and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
n

n

A Master's Degree in Clinical or Educational Psychology and/or a teaching qualification will be highly regarded.
