About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Horse Trainer to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the training, development, conditioning and day-to-day management of horses to develop their skills, behaviour, fitness and performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced horse professional who has solid practical knowledge of horse training techniques and is capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of horse welfare and safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess the temperament, condition, ability and training needs of individual horses.
- Develop and implement appropriate training programs according to each horse's age, ability, temperament and intended use.
- Train horses in groundwork, obedience, movement, responsiveness and discipline-specific skills.
- School and exercise horses regularly to improve fitness, balance, coordination and performance.
- Ride and work horses through structured training sessions and progressively develop their capabilities.
- Identify behavioural, physical or performance issues and modify training methods accordingly.
- Handle horses safely during training, exercise, transportation and other activities.
- Monitor horses' progress and maintain accurate training and performance records.
- Assist with preparing horses for competitions, events, sale or other performance requirements.
- Work closely with owners,



riders and other equine professionals regarding horse development and training programs.
- Maintain safe and appropriate training practices and comply with workplace health and safety and animal welfare requirements.
- Monitor horses for signs of injury, illness, stress or changes in behaviour and report concerns appropriately.
- Maintain training equipment and ensure facilities used for horse training are safe and suitable.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Demonstrated experience working as a Horse Trainer or in a substantially similar equine training role such as professional track rider.
- Strong practical knowledge of horse behaviour, handling and training techniques.
- Ability to assess individual horses and adapt training methods to their needs.
- Proven ability to safely handle, ride, exercise and train horses of varying ages and abilities.
- Knowledge of horse conditioning, fitness development and performance preparation.
- Good understanding of equine health, welfare and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, observation and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant formal qualifications in equine studies, horse training or a related field will be highly regarded.
