Melbourne Theranostic Innovation Centre – North Melbourne VIC

The Nuclear Medicine Consultant will be involved in reporting PET/CT scans from an ultra-extended field of view scanner, the Siemens Biograph Vision Quadra, that is changing molecular imaging practice. The Consultant will work as a part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team to provide effective person-centred diagnosis. They will also be involved in theranostic trials.

Key responsibilities

n

Prescribe, supervise and interpret PET/CT and nuclear medicine studies, providing accurate and timely reports adhering to established protocols

n

Take relevant history from patients and perform examinations when required for correlation with scan findings

n

Obtain informed consents for clinical trials

n

Serve as a point of contact for technologists, nurses, receptionists, and other physicians both within and beyond the service

n

Be available to address any clinical needs that arise within the department

n

Assist in the administration of Radionuclide Therapies

n

Communicate critical/urgent findings to referring physicians in a timely manner

n

Actively participate in clinical meetings, tutorials, quality assurance, and other meetings as directed

n





Be involved in research through protocol development, ethics submission, data collection and analysis leading to publications and presentations at conferences, seminars, or other relevant events

n

Provide continuing education to the team, fostering a learning setting that promotes excellence in clinical practice

n

About you

n

Primary medical qualification (MBBS, MD or equivalent)

n

AHPRA registration

n

Completed core training in nuclear medicine

n

Sound knowledge of molecular imaging techniques (required) and therapeutic nuclear medicine (desirable)

n

Evidence of a track record in research relative to opportunity

n

Excellent teaching and training ability

n

Demonstrating commitment to high quality patient care

n

Commitment to profession-led regulation and ethical practice

n

Effective collaboration and teamwork with excellent communication skills at all levels

n

Ability to effectively manage matters of patient safety and quality of care
