Deanside Primary School is a rapidly growing, values-driven school serving a high-growth community in Melbourne. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, joyful learning environment where every student and staff member is supported to succeed.
Deanside Primary School officially opened January 2022. It is located at 38 Conservatory Drive, Deanside, 3336; which is situated between Caroline Springs and Aintree.The school currently has an enrolment of 730 students and we are forecasting further growth for 2027 due to the amount of housing being built across the new suburb of Deanside.
Deanside Primary School accommodates students from Foundation to Year 6. Currently we have 32 classrooms operatingin the school, with five Specialist areasof STEM, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, PE and Kitchen/Garden taught weekly. LOTE (AUSLAN) was introduced in 2024 and is delivered by all classroom teachers via an online platform.
Deanside Primary School has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where students from all age groups play together across our sports fields, Community Hub, play equipment, and play spaces.
Students are always at the centre of everything we do and we plan to their needs. We pride ourselves on being a caring and innovative school, with a welcoming community and friendly culture. DeansidePrimary School is focussed on developing respectful relationships between students, staff and families to ensure each student¿s social, emotional and academic learning is developed.All students have access to iPads and our teaching staff use Mac laptops in a technology immersed classroom environment with AppleTV¿s and document cameras.

Selection Criteria
SC1. Educational Speech Pathology Knowledge and Practice
Demonstrated knowledge or capacity to develop capability in assessment and intervention related to speech, language, literacy, AAC and communication needs, using evidence-based practice aligned with Disability Inclusion requirements.
SC2. Collaborative and Multidisciplinary Practice
Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary allied health and wellbeing team, contributing speech pathology expertise to Disability Inclusion Profiles, SSG processes and whole-school inclusive planning.
SC3. Professional Learning and Capacity Building
Ability and willingness to design and deliver professional learning for teachers, education support staff and families to build confidence and capability in implementing language, communication and AAC strategies aligned with Disability Inclusion goals.
SC4. Documentation and Organisational Skills
Strong organisational skills including the ability to maintain accurate case notes, track progress, and contribute to Disability Inclusion documentation, reports and evidence requirements.
SC5. Communication, Relationships and Problem‑Solving
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff while modelling Disability Inclusion values of dignity, accessibility and communication rights.
SC6. Time Management and Professional Responsibility
Evidence of effective time management, caseload prioritisation and reflective practice to support continual growth within the school environment.

Role Summary
The Speech Pathologist provides assessment, intervention, consultation, AAC support and capacity building aligned with the school¿s Disability Inclusion model. The role strengthens communication access, literacy development and participation for students and supports teachers and education staff to embed communication‑supportive practices that enable full curriculum engagement.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions.Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally,
be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day‑to‑day direction minimal.Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Assessment, Intervention and Review
- Conduct communication, speech, language and AAC assessments informed by Disability Inclusion frameworks.
- Provide individual, group and classroom‑embedded intervention using evidence‑based practice.
Inclusive Practice and Case Collaboration
- Participate in Disability Inclusion Profile meetings, SSGs and collaborative planning with teaching and wellbeing teams.
AAC and Communication Supports
- Provide staff coaching and implementation support for AAC systems and universal communication accessibility strategies.
Capacity Building and Family Partnership
- Deliver professional learning and coaching to staff and families linked to Disability Inclusion communication adjustments.
Documentation and Professional Standards
- Maintain clear records, reports and compliance requirements consistent with regulatory expectations, Child Safe Standards and professional codes of conduct.
- Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
- Ensure all external providers deliver the required service.
