Hart Marine is looking for enthusiastic Apprentice Boat Builders to join our team in Somerville.
We build large, high-performance fiberglass Pilot and Police vessels that operate around Australia and overseas. Yep — the boats you help build can end up out on the water doing some pretty important jobs!

What Will You Learn?
As an Apprentice Boat Builder, no two days will be exactly the same. You’ll learn skills including:
- Using hand tools and power tools safely
- Building fiberglass components using open-mould hand layup
- Dry lamination for vacuum infusion
- Sanding, shaping and finishing fiberglass
- Gelcoat and marine spraying
- Helping with rigging and fitting out new boats
- Assisting with sea trials on Pilot Boats
- Helping deliver boats around Australia and overseas
- General workshop and factory skills
Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before — we don’t expect you to know it all on day one. What matters most is that you’re keen to learn and have a go.

- Are reliable and ready to commit to a 4-year full time apprenticeship, including TAFE training

Get Qualified While You Work
Complete your apprenticeship with Hart Marine and you’ll have the opportunity to become a qualified Boat Builder and earn your Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction.
You’ll finish your apprenticeship with a recognised trade qualification, practical skills and experience that can take you well beyond your first job.
