Ability Advocates is seeking a Transport and Community Access Driver to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is based in Parramatta, NSW and is fundamental to our mission of enabling people with disabilities to participate fully in community life. As a Transport and Community Access Driver, you will play a vital role in providing safe, reliable and dignified transport services to people with disabilities, empowering them to access community facilities, services, social activities and employment opportunities. This position directly supports our commitment to fostering independence, social inclusion and quality of life for the people we serve.

Key responsibilities

- Operate a vehicle safely and efficiently whilst transporting clients with disabilities to community venues, medical appointments, employment locations and social activities
- Provide courteous, patient and professional assistance to clients during transport, including helping with mobility aids and ensuring comfortable seating arrangements
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle safety checks and maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and mileage
- Support clients in accessing community facilities and activities, providing practical assistance and encouragement to promote independence and social participation
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, supervisors and service coordinators regarding transport arrangements and any concerns or incidents
- Maintain confidentiality and treat all clients with respect, dignity and sensitivity
- Follow all relevant road safety regulations, organisational policies and disability support best practices
- Report any vehicle defects, safety concerns or client welfare issues promptly to management
- Support the organisation's values of inclusion, empowerment and person-centred care in all interactions

What we're looking for

- A current, valid Australian driver's license with an excellent driving record
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC)



or willingness to obtain one
- The ability to obtain or hold a valid NDIS Worker Check clearance
- Demonstrated experience working with or supporting people with disabilities, mental health conditions or other vulnerabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen actively and respond with empathy
- A commitment to person-centred care and the promotion of client independence, choice and dignity
- Excellent reliability and punctuality with the ability to manage multiple transport bookings efficiently
- A clean, professional appearance and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people
- Knowledge of NSW road safety regulations and local transport networks is advantageous
- First Aid or CPR certification is desirable and may be required for some client groups
