Walkervale State School is seeking a high-quality leader for the role of Head of Special Education Services, supporting students from Prep to Year 6 across our primary school and children from birth to pre-prep age in our Early Childhood Development Program.

As a key member of the school leadership team, the Head of Special Education Services works in partnership with families, departmental staff and external professionals to ensure students can access high-quality education in an inclusive environment that promotes engagement and belonging.

Walkervale State School is a welcoming primary school in Bundaberg, offering Prep to Year 6 alongside an Early Childhood Development Program for children aged 0-5.

Your opportunity:

The Head of Special Education Services provides leadership of multi-tiered systems of support in close collaboration with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Head of Department - Curriculum and Business Manager.

This role drives improved student achievement by leading teaching teams, including teachers supporting students with disability,



Early Childhood Development Program staff and classroom teachers, across all year levels and student cohorts.

Walkervale's Head of Special Education Services also coordinates case management for students requiring more intensive individual support and reasonable adjustments.

Responsibilities include:

- Coordinate and oversee the delivery of high-quality advice and support through the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
- Lead the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program, providing guidance to classroom teachers and school staff on supporting students with disability and implementing appropriate reasonable adjustments.
- Coordinate intensive targeted teaching and case management for students requiring intervention or extensive or substantial adjustments, and support staff to access specialist services, professional development and other relevant supports.
- Contribute to school decision-making, professional development and planning, and implement school-wide systems and data processes to monitor students with disability and support the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with parents, government agencies and community groups to support students with disability, while managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve program and school goals.
