Disability Support Worker - fixed term contract

Peckys Disability Services (Peckys) has been operating in the local Blacktown area since 1981, providing quality support and services including day programs, accommodation support and weekend recreation services for more than 200 participants.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and caring Disability Support Worker to join our day program on a fixed term contract for 6 months, working 50 hours per fortnight.

The successful applicant will join a specialised supportive team providing active care to participants, focusing on a mixture of personal care, in-house activities and community access.

Responsibilities and Requirements

- Providing direct support to people with a disability including personal care and medication management;
- Application of Participant plans ie; behaviour support, epilepsy management, etc.;
- Accurate data collection in all areas of community participation;




- Maintaining and monitoring a participant’s person-centered support plan.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a busy day program setting is essential
- Demonstrated experience working with peoplewith challenging behaviours
- Ability to support participants in community engagement and skill development.
- Ability to work within a teamenvironment as well as ability to work independently with a participant one to one.
- Current NSW Driver's License.
- Confidence in driving a Hi-Ace van
- 1st Aid certificate or willingness to obtain within 1month of start date
- NDIS Screening check, or a willingness to obtain prior to work commencement
- Relevant industry and/or tertiary qualification e.g. Certificate 3 or 4 in Disabilities
