About Us
The Migrant Resource Centre North West Region (MRCNWR) is a community based, non-profit organisation with extensive years of history in providing services to our multicultural communities. We provide our services from office locations in St Albans and Hume and also undertake outreach services. The organisation has a range of service areas that include Settlement services, Aged Care, Disability Services, Learning Centre services, NDIS & Home Care Packages program as well as Community projects.
About the Role:
The HR Officer provides comprehensive HR administration and support across MRC North West Region, acting as a point of contact between internal and external stakeholders. The role covers the full HR lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, policy development, compliance, and staff wellbeing, alongside broader office and organisational support functions.
HR OFFICER ROLE:
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinate and deliver HR documentation, including employment contracts, position descriptions, work plans, onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic employee records and HR systems to ensure compliance and up-to-date data.
- Oversee recruitment activities, including job descriptions, advertising, screening, interviewing and managing hiring processes.
- Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new staff and board members, including induction sessions.
- Coordinate and support performance management processes, including probation reviews, annual appraisals and staff development plans.
- Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures, templates and standards, ensuring legal compliance.
- Support staff training and development initiatives, including First Aid, CPR, Mental Health and Fire Warden training.
- Monitor and manage staff wellbeing, WHS standards and workplace culture.
- Administer and support grievance and complaint procedures, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
- Maintain asset registers,
manage insurance policies and oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years' proven experience in HR administration, office management, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies and compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships and collaborate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and web-based platforms (e.g., Seek, Fit2Work).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and adapt to changing organisational needs.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality, especially in record-keeping and reporting.
- Sound understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and procedures.
- Assist the Chairman, COM and senior management with daily operations, including scheduling, correspondence and preparing reports.
- Oversee administrative policies, office procedures and facilities management.
- Act as a liaison for legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
- Manage communication channels, including brochures, newsletters, website updates and social media.
- Coordinate organisational assets, IT systems and infrastructure.
- Support financial processes, including timesheet management, payroll support and invoicing assistance.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, partners, government agencies and community stakeholders.
- Promote the organisation's qualified image and community presence through active engagement and marketing efforts.

Employment Details / Salary & Conditions
This is a fixed-term, part-time (30.4 hours per week) position for 12 months, covering Maternity Leave, with the possibility of extension. Salary in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits. Employment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Record Check.
