Cyber Security Advisor | 12-Month Contract | $900–$1,100/day ex. super | Sydney

A well-known Sydney government organisation is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Advisor to join on a 12-month contract. This is a senior, hands‑on role providing security guidance across the organisation's technology programs.

The role:

- Provide risk-based cyber security advice, assessments and assurance across technology projects, systems and services
- Review recent products, services, applications and infrastructure solutions, recommending fit‑for‑purpose controls
- Advise project and technology teams on secure design and implementation
- Support cyber security governance — policies, standards and procedures
- Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives

What you'll bring:





- Strong working knowledge of the ASD Essential Eight (and familiarity with ISO 27001/27002/27005, NIST, ISM)
- Hands‑on experience securing Microsoft Azure / Entra ID environments, including network security
- Solid background in cyber security advisory, risk assessment, assurance or governance
- Experience reviewing applications, systems and infrastructure from a security lens
- CISSP, CISA or CISM highly regarded; OT security knowledge a plus
