For many young people, their first experience of Australian football comes through Auskick, school football or a community program.

This role is about making that first experience a excellent one and creating a pathway for young people to continue their football journey through our community clubs.

n

This is a hands‐on football development role. You'll spend your time in schools, clubs and communities delivering quality football programs, building relationships and helping grow participation across our region.

What you'll do

- Deliver AFL Auskick programs in schools and community clubs
n
- Deliver school football programs, competitions and participation activities
n
- Introduce more boys and girls to Australian football
n
- Build strong relationships with schools, teachers and community organisations
n
- Create pathways from schools and Auskick into junior club football
n




- Support transition and retention of participants into community clubs
n
- Support junior football development and participation initiatives
n
- Contribute to football carnivals, events and community programs
n
- Work alongside AFL Cairns clubs and our broader football team
n
- Identify opportunities to grow participation across the region
n

Who we're looking for

- A positive and enthusiastic approach

- Confidence working with children and young people
n
- Strong communication and presentation skills
n
- Good organisation and planning skills
n
- Initiative and the ability to work independently
n
- A strong team-first attitude
n
- Knowledge and passion for Australian football
n
- Experience in coaching, playing, umpiring, education, sports development or community sport
n
- Relevant qualifications or study in sport, recreation, coaching or education, or equivalent experience
n
- AFL coaching accreditation, or willingness to obtain it
n
- Current Queensland Driver Licence and access to a vehicle
n
- Blue Card, or ability to obtain one
n
- First Aid qualification, or willingness to obtain it
n

The position

Full-time position based in Cairns, with delivery across Cairns and Far North Queensland.

n

The position is classified under the Sporting Organisations Award – Sports Coach Level 2.

n

Due to the nature of community sport, some evening and weekend work will be required.
