Work insurance files that vary, finish early every second Friday, and continue building a long-term career as a legal secretary.
An experienced legal secretary role supporting a partner's team within a leading national insurance firm, working across personal injury, public liability, qualified indemnity and health matters in Brisbane. This is a genuine long-term career path, not a stepping stone to fee-earning work.
What you'll be doing:
- File management, opening new matters, archiving closed ones, and making sure records are always accurate.
- Running monthly billing, chasing outstanding debtors and pulling together reporting.
- Drafting and sending correspondence, and getting court documents filed on time.
- Putting together briefs for counsel, medical experts and other specialists ahead of key dates.
- Coordinating diaries and travel, booking appointments and keeping the team's schedule on track.
- Providing broader admin support to keep the team running smoothly day to day.
What you get:
- You'll manage files across multiple practice areas, ensuring there is variety in the work you are doing.
- The firm runs a 9.5-day fortnight, so you leave at lunchtime every second Friday without touching annual leave.
- You're briefing counsel and experts regularly, not just filing and invoicing.
- You'll be joining a firm that's been recognised year after year as employer of choice.
- Parental leave doesn't split into "primary" and "secondary" carer, both parents get the same support.
What you need:
- Minimum two years' experience as a legal secretary in defendant or plaintiff personal injury.
- Experience with file management, billing, brief preparation and court document filing.
- Not currently studying law or planning to move into a fee-earning role.
