The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work across two complementary specialties:

- 0.5 FTE – General Medicine
n
- 0.5 FTE – Geriatric Medicine
n

The role provides an opportunity to manage a diverse range of acute, complex and chronic medical conditions while working closely with multidisciplinary teams across both services.

n

The General Medicine component will provide exposure to a broad range of adult medical presentations, while the Geriatric Medicine component will focus on the comprehensive assessment and management of older patients with complex medical, functional and psychosocial needs.

n

General Medicine

n

Within General Medicine, the successful candidate will contribute to the assessment and management of patients presenting with a broad range of acute and complex medical conditions.

n

Responsibilities may include:

n

- Inpatient assessment and management
n
- Management of complex and multi-system medical presentations
n
- Clinical decision-making and treatment planning
n
- Multidisciplinary case management
n
- Consultation and advice to other clinical teams
n
- Participation in teaching and supervision
n




- Contribution to clinical governance and quality improvement
n

n

Geriatric Medicine

n

The Geriatric Medicine component provides an opportunity to work with older patients presenting with complex and often multiple medical conditions.

n

The role may involve:

n

n
- Comprehensive geriatric assessment
n
- Management of frailty and complex comorbidities
n
- Falls and functional assessment
n
- Cognitive and dementia-related presentations
n
- Medication and chronic disease management
n
- Multidisciplinary care planning
n
- Discharge planning and transition of care
n
- Liaison with community and primary healthcare providers
n
- Supporting patients and families with complex care needs
n

International Medical Graduates

International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) are encouraged to enquire.

Candidates who have received a RACP Comparable or Substantially Comparable outcome, or who are progressing through specialist recognition with the RACP, are welcome to discuss their eligibility.

n

Doctors approaching completion of UK, Irish or New Zealand specialist training may also be suitable, subject to individual RACP and AHPRA assessment and eligibility requirements.

Requirements

n

Applicants will ideally have:

n

n
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist qualifications
n
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, or eligibility for specialist registration
n
- Appropriate experience in General Medicine
n
- Experience or demonstrated interest in Geriatric Medicine
n
- Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centred care
n
- Strong communication and clinical leadership skills
n
