Waratah Constructions is a growing bridge and civil construction company delivering bridge, infrastructure, civil and maintenance projects across Victoria and southern New South Wales.

We are seeking an experienced Estimator with 3-5 years’ relevant industry experience to join our small team and play a key role in preparing competitive and commercially sound tenders and quotations.

About the Role

Working closely with our Management and Operations teams, you will be responsible for estimating a range of bridge, civil, infrastructure and maintenance projects from tender through to project handover.

This is a hands-on estimating role suited to someone who understands how construction projects are actually delivered and can translate drawings, specifications and site conditions into accurate and competitive pricing.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare & submit detailed tenders, quotations and project budgets on tight deadlines.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes, site information and tender documentation.
- Determine project requirements for labour, materials, plant, equipment, subcontractors and traffic management.
- Obtain, assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop accurate pricing for construction materials and services.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, opportunities and potential variations.
- Prepare construction methodologies.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and project teams to clarify scope and obtain pricing.
- Ensure estimates are accurate, commercially viable and submitted within required timeframes.




- Maintain estimating records and assist with the handover of successful tenders to the Project Management team.

About You

You will ideally have:

- 3-5 years’ experience as an Estimator within the civil, bridge or infrastructure construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, plant, labour and subcontractor requirements.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- A sound understanding of construction costs and commercial principles.
- Solid attention to detail with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a small, hands-on project team.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Wordskills. Experience with Microsoft Project and estimating software will be highly regarded.
- A practical and proactive approach to identifying project risks and opportunities.
- Experience estimating bridge construction, guardrail and safety barriers, civil works, infrastructure maintenance or government/council projects will be highly regarded.
