Job Description

Dispense prescription medications accurately and safely in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and pharmacy procedures.

Provide patients with explicit advice on medication use, dosage, side effects, interactions, and storage.

n

Conduct medication reviews and support patients with appropriate medication management.

n

Provide professional pharmacy services, including health advice, vaccinations, and other services within scope of practice.

n

Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient care.

n

Maintain accurate patient records, dispensing records, and documentation.

n

Monitor medication safety and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, and medication-related problems.

n

Assist with stock management, including ordering, receiving, storage, expiry-date checks, and inventory control.

n

Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies, regulatory requirements, and quality and safety standards.

n

Provide compassionate, patient-focused service and contribute to a positive pharmacy environment.

n

Support and mentor pharmacy interns, students, and other team members where appropriate.

Assist with the safe and accurate dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medicines under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

n

Counsel patients on the appropriate use of medications, including dosage, administration, precautions, and possible side effects.

n

Develop practical knowledge and skills in dispensing, medication management, and patient care.

n

Assist pharmacists with medication reviews, health checks, vaccinations, and other pharmacy services as appropriate.

n

Review prescriptions for accuracy and identify potential medication interactions or issues, referring concerns to the supervising pharmacist.

n

Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff.

n

Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving deliveries, inventory management, and checking medication expiry dates.

n

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.

n

Follow pharmacy procedures, professional standards, and relevant legislation under supervision.

n

Participate in continuing professional development and workplace training.

n

Demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a patient-centred approach.

n

Work collaboratively with the pharmacy team while developing the competencies required for registration as a pharmacist.
