ALEX&Co.; is seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Chef / Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team at our busy restaurant, bar and functions venue in the heart of Parramatta.
Working closely with our Executive Chef, this is a hands-on senior position for a strong all-round chef who can confidently work across multiple sections, maintain high standards during busy services and provide leadership and support to the wider kitchen team.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Working confidently across multiple kitchen sections during preparation and service
- Taking ownership of an allocated section and ensuring consistent execution
- Supporting the Executive Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Assisting at the pass and coordinating service when required
- Maintaining food quality, presentation, portion and recipe standards
- Supporting and providing practical direction to junior chefs and kitchen hands
- Ensuring mise en place and preparation levels are maintained for service
- Supporting functions, events and high-volume service periods
- Maintaining strong food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Managing correct stock rotation, labelling and storage using FIFO principles
- Assisting with stocktakes, deliveries and inventory counts
- Identifying stock shortages, quality concerns and operational issues before they impact service
- Maintaining an organised, professional and service-ready kitchen
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least 3 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally within a high-volume restaurant, bar or functions environment
- Is a strong all-round chef capable of working across multiple sections
- Can maintain quality, organisation and speed under pressure
- Has strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation
- Is comfortable stepping into a senior on-shift leadership role
- Leads by example and supports the development of junior team members
- Has strong food safety and hygiene knowledge
- Is reliable, accountable and looking for a long-term opportunity
- Experience with Mediterranean, Italian or modern Australian cuisine will be highly regarded
