As the APS 5 Project Controls Officer, you will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex project work within an integrated workforce.

You will have, or be able to develop a comprehensive understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. You will interpret and provide advice within the Project Control function based on legislation, policy and procedures. You will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and administrative support work to achieve results.

You will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members.

You will be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.

You will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work outcomes. You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and career development.

About our Team

The Landing Craft Branch is accountable for acquisitions under the LAND8710 Program, including LAND8710-1 Landing Craft - Medium (LC-M), LAND8710-1B Amphibious Vehicle - Logistics (AV-L) and LAND8710-2 Landing Craft - Heavy (LC-H).

The LAND8710 projects are supported by a Program Management Office that is responsible for support, governance and assurance functions across the LAND8710 program.



The Program Management Office and Landing Craft Branch consists of professionals from various disciplines and comprises highly skilled and motivated APS, ADF and contracted personnel. The Project Controls Officer sits within the PMO and performs complex project work within an integrated workforce.

Our Ideal Candidate

As the APS 5 Project Controls Officer, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

- Provide administrative and project management support to the Landing Craft Program.
- Provide support to projects including contractor management, financial activities, probity management, reporting and governance and administrative support.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of project planning and performance processes in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.
- Research, draft and prepare briefs, correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and meet their needs.
- Apply project management practices in compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- Commitment to the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
