About the Business
A well-established specialist contractor with over 30 years' experience in asbestos removal, environmental remediation and hazardous materials management across Victoria. Trusted by major demolition contractors, government, education, healthcare and commercial clients, the business has built its reputation on technical capability and reliability — and is now investing in senior commercial leadership as it enters its next phase of growth.
The Opportunity
Following an internal promotion to General Manager, this newly created role sits at the heart of the business's commercial function. You'll personally own the tenders that shape the company's future, lead and develop a small estimating team, and work directly alongside the GM as a genuine commercial partner — not just report on the numbers, but help set the direction.
What You'll Be Doing
- Personally price, prepare and win the business's highest-value tenders ($5m–$10m+), from site visit through to submission, including detailed line-item pricing and risk assessment
- Lead, mentor and develop a small estimating team; running priorities, coaching performance, and building commercial discipline
- Own and grow relationships with a small number of key demolition-partner clients, representing the business at a senior level
- Prepare high-quality tender presentations and submissions that reflect the business's reputation for technical excellence
- Act as a genuine commercial sounding board to the GM; pipeline forecasting, business planning, and strategic input beyond estimating alone
- Progressively take on responsibility for the business's largest and most complex tenders as the role matures
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience personally pricing and winning competitive tenders in construction, civil, demolition, environmental or related sectors — not just preparing proposals or reviewing others' pricing
- Demonstrated leadership of a small estimating or commercial team
- Genuine experience building and owning client relationships to win repeat work
- Environmental, soil contamination or asbestos/hazardous materials knowledge highly regarded, though not essential - full training provided for the right commercial operator
- Comfortable in a hands-on, owner-led business culture, not a large corporate structure
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the commercial and financial acumen to operate as a genuine business partner
What's on Offer
- Base salary between $180,000 - $220,000 + Super. genuinely negotiable for the right candidate, including a contracted 6-month salary review
- Fully maintained, branded vehicle
- Annual bonus of 5–10% of salary, tied to individual and company performance
- Direct access to senior leadership and real influence over commercial direction
- A rare prospect to help shape the next chapter of an established, respected business
