Trainer and Assessor for Certificate III in Tiling and Building Construction

Spencer Technical College Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Trainer and Assessor for Tiling and Building Construction course to join our team on an full-time basis. Based in Woolloongabba, QLD, this role is pivotal in delivering high-quality vocational education and training to students pursuing qualifications in tiling and building construction. As a Trainer and Assessor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging learning experiences whilst ensuring rigorous assessment practices that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position is integral to our mission of preparing students for successful careers in the construction and building trades.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop and deliver engaging and practical training content for tiling and building construction courses, utilising industry-standard techniques and best practices
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of student competency against relevant training package standards and vocational qualification requirements
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance, identifying areas for development and supporting their progression
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, attendance, assessment results and achievement of learning outcomes
- Prepare and update course materials, practical demonstrations and learning resources to ensure currency with industry practices and regulatory changes
- Liaise with industry partners, employers and other stakeholders to ensure training remains relevant and aligned with workplace requirements
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training delivery and assessment practices, making improvements as needed
- Support students with additional learning needs,



providing reasonable adjustments and alternative assessment methods where appropriate
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Spencer College's vocational training programmes
- Maintain compliance with training standards, safety regulations and quality assurance requirements

What we're looking for

- CPC31320 – Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling for Tiling trainer role
- CPC40120 or CPC50120 or equivalent for building construction Constructions courses
- Substantial hands‑on experience working in the tiling and/or building construction industry, demonstrating practical expertise and deep knowledge of current workplace practices
- Vocational education and training (VET) qualifications, such as TAE40122Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent teaching qualifications recognised by relevant training authorities
- Demonstrated competency in assessment practice, with experience conducting formal assessments or evaluations in a vocational or educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to learners of varying abilities
- Commitment to student‑centered learning approaches and inclusive educational practices
- Knowledge of relevant Australian training packages, competency standards and assessment frameworks for building and construction qualifications
- Familiarity with work health and safety (WHS) requirements relevant to construction trades and training delivery




- Proficiency with learning management systems and digital tools used in vocational training environments
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple classes, assessment schedules and administrative responsibilities
- Professional approach to maintaining confidentiality, ethics and professional boundaries in an educational setting
