Registered Nurse – Perioperative (Anaesthetic/PACU) | Melbourne

Outstanding opportunities await an experienced Anaesthetic / PACU Registered Nurse to join the Perioperative Services team at a private hospital in Melbourne. This is a full-time position working across operating theatres and recovery areas, with shifts following a rotating roster. The role provides an excellent opportunity to utilise and further develop your perioperative and anaesthetic nursing experience within a supportive clinical environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

n

This is an opportunity for a nurse who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is passionate about ensuring patients receive exceptional care before, during and immediately after surgery. As an Anaesthetic / PACU Nurse, you play a critical role in supporting patients through some of their most vulnerable moments, working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care.

As a Registered Nurse,your responsibilities will include:

n

- Assisting anaesthetists during induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia;
n
- Preparing and maintaining anaesthetic equipment, medications and monitoring devices;
n
- Monitoring patients and responding promptly to changes in clinical condition;
n
- Supporting safe and efficient theatre workflows;
n
- Maintaining accurate documentation and upholding patient safety standards;
n
- Providing post-anaesthetic care and recovery monitoring;
n
- Assessing and managing pain, airway, respiratory and cardiovascular status;
n
- Recognising and escalating clinical deterioration when required;
n
- Delivering patient-centred care that promotes comfort, dignity and safety;
n
- Coordinating smooth transfers to inpatient wards,

REQUIREMENTS

n

n
- Current registration with AHPRA;
n
- Demonstrated perioperative anaesthetic nursing experience, which could be combined with PACU or Scrub Scout;
n
- Knowledge of patient monitoring and post-operative care principles;
n
- Commitment to continuous professional development;
n
- Understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and quality standards;
n
- Anaesthesia experience is required;
n
- Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing, Anaesthetics or Critical Care (desirable);
n
- Experience caring for patients across a broad range of surgical specialties;
n
- Advanced Life Support certification (desirable);
n
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills;
n
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities;
n
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care;
n
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail;
n
- Familiarity with ACORN Standards and contemporary perioperative practice.

With a 12-cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, a 12-bed critical care complex, and a busy Day Procedure UInput, the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community.
