St Patrick's College Townsville is seeking an organised, enthusiastic and safety-focused professional to join our community as a Science Laboratory Technician, with a preferred commencement at the start of Term 4, 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a energetic Science Faculty, supporting engaging and practical learning experiences for students. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, you will play a key role in ensuring laboratories are safe, well-resourced and effectively managed, enabling students to explore science through hands-on learning and discovery.

About the Role

As the Science Laboratory Technician, you will provide technical and operational support across the Science Faculty. You will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of laboratory resources, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, managing equipment and chemicals, and supporting the delivery of practical science programs.

Key responsibilities include:

- Prepare, set up and dismantle equipment and materials for practical science lessons and experiments.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, resources and chemical inventories to support curriculum delivery.
- Manage stock control, procurement and supplier relationships.
- Conduct and maintain risk assessments, safety documentation and chemical registers.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and laboratory safety standards.
- Support teaching staff with experiment preparation, trials and demonstrations.
- Safely store, handle and dispose of chemicals,



hazardous substances and biological materials.
- Maintain laboratory facilities to ensure they remain safe, organised and fit for purpose.

About You

You are a proactive and organised professional who:

- Has experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably within an educational setting.
- Demonstrates strong organisational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Has knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific materials and laboratory safety procedures.
- Understands Workplace Health and Safety requirements and risk management practices.
- Builds positive working relationships with staff, students, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Can work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Is committed to supporting student learning, child safeguarding and the values of Catholic education.
